My winterappartment in Villanueva Mesia
I was quite lucky to find a nice appartment in "no time" in Villanueva Mesia, Spain. Having still in mind last year's disaster I started to search early. But the very first question I raised about that in the very first cafe was already succesfull. That is why I stopped cycling for 2025 somewhat more early then planned. Then it can be a real hassle to find a stay, so a nice offer is not to be refused.
I started immediately to buy all kind of kitchenequipment, and food and also special beer. The whole weat bread I hadn't tasted all year and that beer I had not had for some 7 years. I also bought an airfryer that I liked a lot. Unfortunately it broke down after a few days, and also the second one.
And I "produced" a nice onionsoup (but only once haha).
And in another "no time" several animals knew about me.
I visited the chinese restaurant in Huetor Tajar to celebrate my birthday. That was not a success ... Chinese cooks have the bad habit to prepare the things (courses) you order all at once at the same time. Which very often means that the main plate is already cold by the time you have managed to finished the (very) hot soup. And I always forget to warn (threaten) them, I will never get used to that ... But I did create a special webpage to warn them.
I performed an oilchange at my OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️. Which is not at all difficult but rather a hassle since the drainplug is located at the side (so not in the bottom). Besides that the plug is very small (M4) which makes the oil not want to drip out. So trick is to lay the bicycle down, ie over night.
But Very Unfortunately about one month later one of the oilseals failed. It was the very first problem with my OnTheRoad 4.0 🖱️ since early 2017 when I assembled it and so it was to be expected. But actually I was lucky then I didn't really need the bicycle now. Then the weather was still not good enough for me to cycle because of the ongoing showers and to cold nights.
However, one can not repair this and has to send in the gearbox to the manufacturer Pinion in Germany.
So I brought the gearbox to Correos, spains national shipper. There The Shit Began !!! They charged me a whopping € 67 for a oneway shipment to Germany. The small office here has no electronic equipment so I didn't recieve any proof, nor trackingcode and I had to pay cash. I could pickup that code by the end of that week, so I went over there once more. To find out Correos had returned the package because some scanner in Madrid had told them "there is a battery inside and that is not allowed". I did not 🖕 get a refund 🖕 since "it is not 🖕 our scanner".

At the 29th of march I tried to shoot the solar eclipse but the result was shockingly bad. I will try again at the 12th of augustus 2026, or at the 2nd of augustus 2027. Maybe 😄.
The new blossoms at the trees in town were nice but only lasted a few days, due to the numerous rainshowers and the cold. They seem to be a lot more vulnerable then those outside town.
I also walked into the countryside several times and saw the Purple flowers 🖱️, Red flowers 🖱️ and Yellow flowers 🖱️ awaking. It is a real pleasure to visit them !
The weather caused me to stay longer then I had planned to. But then "the climate changed" and I left. So I was On The Road Again, see the next blog.
